Cinturones de seguridad y asientos para niños
- Everyone in a moving vehicle must be belted or in an approved child restraint. Riding without a seat belt is illegal for everyone, in the back seat as well as the front; an adult in the rear seat needs a belt too.
- Child restraint stages: rear-facing until age 2; ages 2 to 4 in a car seat with a harness; from 4 a car or booster seat until the adult lap and shoulder belt fits properly (often 8-12, about 4'9"); after that the seat belt alone is correct, whatever the age.
- Children under 13 should not ride in the front seat: a deploying airbag can seriously injure or kill a child there. Sit with your chest at least 10 inches from the steering wheel and the headrest even with your ears.13岁以下儿童不应坐在前排: 弹出的安全气囊可能使坐在前排的儿童重伤或死亡。
- Wear the shoulder belt across your shoulder and the middle of your chest, never behind your back or under your arm. The lap belt goes snug across your hips.
- Airbags do not replace seat belts; the two work together. Someone who is not belted when the airbag deploys risks serious injury or death.
- Keep a child in each restraint stage as long as the seat allows. Moving up early gives less protection. A 3-year-old belongs in a harness seat, not a booster. A 5-year-old on a booster with the lap and shoulder belt is correct.
Easy to mix up易混淆Fácil de confundir
- Under 13: no front seat, because of the airbag. At 13 that caution no longer applies, but the seat belt rule applies to everyone at every age.13岁以下:因安全气囊不应坐前排。
- Ages 2 to 4: harness seat. From 4: booster until the belt fits (about 4'9"). A booster at 3 is too early; a well-fitting belt at 4'10" is fine.2至4岁:带束带的安全座椅。

“A child should remain in each stage of restraint as long as the seat allows for the best protection.”Signals and equipment信号与设备Señales y equipo
- Use hand signals, with the left arm, when one or both turn signals or your brake lights fail. Left turn: left arm straight out the window. Right turn: left arm bent, hand up. Slow or stop: left arm out the driver-side window and down, fingers pointing to the ground; this tells the driver behind to slow and prepare to stop.
- Tire tread should not be less than 2/32 of an inch.
- Brake lights are red and must be clearly visible from 100 feet. If you slow where the driver behind would not expect it, tap the brake pedal three or four times quickly.
- Turn on your flashing hazard lights when the car malfunctions or you must make an emergency stop, so others can go around you safely.
- ABS does not shorten your stopping distance. Its advantage is letting you keep steering during hard braking.ABS不会缩短停车距离。
- Blind zones: mirrors and blind-spot alerts help, but you must still turn your head and body so both eyes can see the blind zone. Keep the steering wheel straight while you look.
